ARE YOU RIDING OUT OF BALANCE?

1976 - What a year!  After 10 months of glorious blood, sweat and tears, and a ton of money, my '76 shovel was finished. My dream had come true.  A springer off a '47 knucklehead, a swing arms with a weld on hard tail. Three grand in chrome and steel braided lines everywhere.  The cases and trans polished with a belt drive.   Look’n good in the neighborhood.  So I thought!  Third kick, she fires... the guns a blastin'.  Good thing we didn't have a helmet law 'cause I wouldn't have been able to find one that would fit my big head.  Well, I went ripping' down the block and, much to my surprise, the 21 up front was so far out of balance it liked to throw me for a loop.  All that glim, glitter, and horsepower, and what did I do?

Overlooked the basics.....something so simple, yet so important.

Kinda sounds like life, huh?  Ever feel like you're out of balance and you're about to be thrown for the big one?  Well, you ain't the lone stranger. I fixed that front wheel and rode on for 2 more years.  Then the road my life was on came to a dead end.  I found myself on a canal bank with a .38 in my mouth.

Something inside said, "Do it".  Then something said, "don't".   After some time I decided to pitch the loads in the canal.  I went home and called my aunt.  My aunt had promised my mom on her deathbed she would see me in church before she died.  When I called her I thought I killed her 'cause the phone went dead when she heard me say I needed help and I wanted to go to her church.

Well, to make this story short, I didn't become a religious person, I came to know Christ.  Here I am, years later, in 2002 still on my scoot.  I've found the "balance of life" - Jesus Christ.

Thanks for taking the time to read this track.  I hope and pray it will cause you to stop and think.  One statement my Aunt would always make was "it don't matter if ya believe it or not, it still is true".  God loves ya and is waiting for you to turn to His open arms so he may put "balance" in your life.

Bottom Line - John 3:16 "For God so loved the world (you and me) He gave his only begotten son (Jesus) that whosoever believeth in Him shall not parish, but will have everlasting life."

Oh yeah, the 21's still rolling true.

WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?

I can’t believe you just said THAT!   Think about what you are saying. Why do you say such words? Profanity is a weak mind trying to express itself forcefully. So who are you trying to impress? Do you talk this way with your children or your Pastor?  You’re a Christian (a follower of Christ) then follow HIM. You have the mind of Christ. Then use it! (I Cor.2:15-16) Think before you talk.  Think about the shadow you’re casting!

What examples are you setting for others around your church or your work, even your home?  Be an imitator of Christ (Ephesians 5; 1) I just can’t imagine Christ using such language.  Can You?

We Christians are told to get rid of all anger, rage, malicious behavior and dirty language. Colossian 3:8. We are told to stop using foul or abusive language ……. Ephesians 4:29

We are in this world but not of this world. (Romans 12; 2)

Blessing and cursing coming out of the same mouth (James 3; 10)

       That’s just not right!

These words only bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit and present a bad witness to those around you, and make no sense at all.

So think before you use words like; “You @#!%& (That’s a female dog),“Stop your @#%!&!#” (Griping- female dog),

“OH *%#!” (Something you stepped in), Frick’n for %$#!, I’m P_____ed off (mad), Who in the %$!! (That’s where the adversary lives)

Think about it!

If you have made a commitment to Jesus Christ recently, or some time ago and you did not know what the Bible says about cussing; well now you do. So it’s time to clean up your mouth.

We all will have to give an account for every idle word we say on judgment day…

Matthew 12:36-37

YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE!

Time flies when you’re having fun!

For twenty-seven years I lived my life as I dang well pleased. (Don’t we all?)

Until one day at the age of 41 I woke up in a hospital bed not knowing why!

Come to find out I was there because I had a major motorcycle accident that should have killed me or left me crippled. I had multiple skull, facial, pelvic, sacrum, hand / wrist & shoulder fractures. Internal injuries to my liver, spleen & pancreas, and a traumatic brain injury. I also had left sided paralysis to my whole body due to 3 strokes caused by my right carotid artery being smashed. And I had no memory of the previous 5 weeks. (To think that I finally got a ride in a helicopter and I don’t even remember it!)

But, I thought I was pretty darn good to be going through my recovery a lot faster than the doctor’s expectations of 4 months in ICU and then months of therapy. To only about 3 weeks in ICU and then about 7 weeks of physical, occupational & speech therapy to learn to walk, talk, eat & think again.

Some people think that I should be blaming God for my accident. But in reality it is thanks to God that I survived the accident and am alive today and a walking / talking miracle.

Because God is a good God and he would not CAUSE such tragedy for any of his loved ones. But he will ALLOW tragedy to happen such as mine as a way to bring those he loves to his waiting arms.

I can now look back on those 27 years and realize that even though I was running from God He was there by my side the whole time.

You see – I first met Jesus when I was 15. But after 5 years of loving Him and living for Him, some things went wrong in my life and I blamed Him for not fixing those things or (my idea of what needed to be fixed and how to fix them!). I told Him that I hated Him and didn’t want anything to do with Him again. So I turned and walked away from Him and ignored His heart string tugs for those 27 years. And lived my life how I wanted to live (haven’t we all lived how we wanted & felt and ignored those tugs?).

But he kept his promise to me of Deuteronomy 31:8 Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail you nor abandon you.

I always thought that I was a smart talented person working 19 years as an optician and 14 years in management positions. But now I realized that it wasn’t my smarts. But instead it was Him that put me in those awesome jobs even without any schooling past high school, and taught me things all along the way that I could not have done on my own.

So I learned the hard way, that you can run but you can’t hide from the Light of the world!

John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

Please don’t make the same mistakes I did, instead of running from Him run TO Jesus now!

Revelation 3:20 - Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.

Pray – Lord I know that I have sinned and I am sorry. Please forgive me and come live in my heart and teach me how to live the way that you created me to live.

Find a church that loves God and teaches that the bible is his spoken word and start to enjoy your wonderful new life!

I tried to run but I couldn’t hide! And neither can you!

Diane
